In a remarkable display of determination and community spirit, ten dedicated HEJ FC parent volunteers took on the 24-hour Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds for the club. Their incredible effort raised an impressive £3,500, which will go a long way in supporting HEJ FC’s activities and initiatives.
The journey begins
The adventure started with a 12-hour minibus drive from Milton Keynes to Fort William, the gateway to the first peak of the challenge, Ben Nevis. The long journey was full of anticipation and camaraderie as the group prepared themselves mentally and physically for the gruelling task ahead.
Conquering Ben Nevis
On arrival, there was little time to waste. The challenge officially began at the base of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK. Standing at 1,345 metres, Ben Nevis was the first of many tough ascents. The team’s spirits were high, fuelled by the purpose of their mission and the support of the HEJ FC community.
Scaling Scafell Pike
After conquering Ben Nevis, the team immediately travelled south to tackle Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England. Despite the physical toll of the previous climb and the fatigue setting in, the parents pushed through, motivated by their shared goal and the difference their efforts would make to the club.
Final push: Snowdon
The final leg of the challenge took them to Wales to face Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa). Exhausted but undeterred, the group pressed on, knowing they were close to completing the challenge. The ascent was the ultimate test of their endurance and resolve, and reaching the summit brought a huge sense of achievement and relief.
Triumph and celebration
With all three peaks conquered within 24 hours, the team returned home to Milton Keynes to cheers and applause from the HEJ FC community. The £3,500 raised is a testament to their dedication and the power of community support.
Impact on HEJ FC
The funds raised will significantly benefit HEJ FC, enabling the club to invest in better facilities, equipment and opportunities for our young players – helping us continue to provide a positive, nurturing environment where children can develop their football skills and grow as individuals.
A heartfelt thank you
HEJ FC extends a heartfelt thank you to the ten parent volunteers who took on this incredible challenge. Their selflessness and hard work have not only raised valuable funds but also inspired the entire HEJ FC community. The club is immensely proud of their achievement and grateful for their dedication.
Looking forward
The success of this challenge sets a fantastic precedent for future fundraising. HEJ FC hopes to organise more events that bring the community together and support the club’s mission – stay tuned for upcoming events and ways you can get involved.
Once again, a massive thank you to our parent volunteers and everyone who supported them. Together, we are making a difference and ensuring a bright future for HEJ FC.
